Description

" Fuji on a clear day " by Katsushika Hokusai

"Fuji on a Clear Day" is a print by the greatest master of Japanese printmaking: Katsushika Hokusai.

Produced for his "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" series, Hokusai's depiction of Mount Fuji is different from that of the other works in the series. We're used to seeing Fuji in a rather calm, soothing setting, with almost dull colors. This print is one of the few to depict Fuji in its volcano guise, and this is what gives the canvas its richness.

Firstly, because red is a color that symbolizes power, and here it serves to accentuate the dominant stature of Mount Fuji. And secondly, because it contrasts with the Prussian blue used in the background, which conveys a sense of calm and well-being. The writing in the upper left is Hokusai's signature and the title of the print.

Ideal for bringing a little warmth into a room or bedroom, while retaining a Zen spirit. This reproduction of the print " Fuji on a clear day" is available in several sizes to suit your interior layout and wall space .

ATTENTION: We do not supply the frame shown in the photo. We leave 4 to 5 centimeters of margin on each side to allow for reinforcement or framing.

  • Material: This reproduction is a print on high-definition waterproof canvas made of cotton and polyester. The texture and thickness of this paper are particularly suited to the reproduction of prints, ensuring a high degree of fidelity to the original work.
  • Artistic movement: This Fuji print is part of ukiyo-e, an artistic movement from the Edo period (1603-1868) that can be translated as "image of the floating world".
  • Style: Japanese landscape
  • Colors: The dominant color of this canvas is red, but Prussian blue remains an important element of the print, despite its presence in the background.
  • Year of production (original): 1832
  • Painter (original): Katsushika Hokusai
